Sophie Piette

Sophie’s deep-rooted commitment to ocean conservation and sustainable management of natural resources originates from her upbringing along the coast of Rhode Island. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Marine Affairs with minors in Political Science and Climate Change Studies from the University of New England, where she graduated summa cum laude.

During her time at UNE, Sophie served as an Orientation Leader, Captain of the Varsity Women's Swimming Team, and Secretary for the People of Politics club, while also being an engaged member of the Female Athlete Alliance. These experiences helped shape her strong leadership, teamwork, and advocacy skills.

Sophie began her professional journey at CWM as a Maine CABIN Fellow in the summer of 2024, contributing to innovative projects aimed at advancing environmental stewardship through business solutions. She also serves on the Stakeholder Advisory Committee at Orange Bike Brewing, where she works on sustainability and storytelling initiatives, driving efforts to build more environmentally responsible practices within the community.

Outside of her professional work, Sophie enjoys reading, spending time with friends, and exploring the outdoors, continuing to nurture her passion for nature and its protection.
